Frequently asked qustions

Technology & Use

  1. But I need a spring lockout for sprinting, riding off the saddle, competition?
We also ride competetively and in the beginning of the product developent we shared your opinion. But after evaluation of measurement data and after practical tests it quickly turned out, that a lockout was not necessary - due to the neutrality of the freeQENCE parallelogram construction. Compared to a supension fork, only the power of your arms stimulates “rocking up motions” - a fork is additionally stimulated on every pedal stroke. And the longer travel of suspension forks enables a larger motion. So we decided, that a lockout was not necessary and the cost of addition complexity and weight was not justified.

  2. How sensible is the freeQENCE supension stem?
The kinematics and the elastomer bodies are fine tuned to reduce both slight vibrations, medium and rough shocks (potholes, steps, roots) up to 75%.

  3. I often have nimbling or tumb hands, will the freeQENCE suspension stem help me?
Many riders complain about nimbling or numb hands. In addition to unfiltered vibrations and shocks there are numerous reasons - e.g. wrong seat position and height, wrong cockpit adjustment, wrong handlebar, handlebar width, wrong handlebar position, etc. The freeQENCE suspension stem relieves the rider’s wrists and arms. This may help to eliminate or reduce the symptoms.

  4. How do I perfectly setup the freeQENCE stem for my weight and intended use?
The spring is externally adjustable with the right handed 3mm allen screw for rider weights from 50 to 120 kg. For your first setup, please have a look at the recommendations in the weight table in the freeQENCE manual. Similar to a suspension fork, the setup is very individual and also depends on body size, frame size, intended use and your individual riding style and preferences.

  5. Which bikes is the freeQENCE stem suitable for?
We designed the freeQENCE suspension stem for all suspensionless (e-)bikes. Your benefit is more comfort, more safety and better handling of your bike - no matter if you ride gravel bikes, road bikes, touring bikes, trekking bikes, city bikes or a pedelec. Whether on asphalt or paved roads, cobblestones, natural roads, gravel roads or singletrails.

  6. Will I benefit from riding a freeQENCE suspenion stem on singletrails?
Definitely. Vecnum is best known for its mountainbike parts and as passionate riders we have tested the freeQENCE stem with gravel bikes on our hometrails. We could master rooty and rough passages at higher speed, with more control and much safer. Lifting your front wheel over obstacles is much easer, similar to a supension fork. We experienced a gain of control and precision in steep passages.

In case of wear and tear after intensive use, the corresponding parts can be replaced easily.
